Accelerate is more than a running shop - we have an amazing running community across Sheffield of all ages and abilities, a sports clinic; Accelerate Performance Centre, a fantastic team of athletes who we are proud to support and so much more with our involvement in the wider running community. We love all things running!
The Accelerate shop in Attercliffe is the HQ for all of this. We have a fantastic team of highly trained staff – who will talk running all day long- whether you are new or seasoned runner pop in for any advice or just a chat. We stock the biggest range of road and trail shoes in the area and only stock clothing, shoes or equipment we believe in. Most of which we have tried and tested. We also have a strong environmental policy and only stock brands fit with our values.

Whether it’s road racing, trail running, or just getting out for a casual jog, we bring real-world knowledge into everything we do. When you walk through our doors, you’re not just getting advice, you’re getting insights from people who lace up their shoes just like you!

Stuart Hale
Stuart loves all things running! Stuart coaches runners from complete beginners through to sub-elite level, with experience coaching to a national standard. His approach is built around one key principle: moving well. He focuses on developing strong foundations that support long-term progress, helping runners stay consistent, improve performance, and avoid injury through strength coaching and soft tissue therapy too. Stuart has also written for all the national running magazines, and is an early advocate and writer on heart rate training principles.
As well as his coaching, Stu also used to run to a high standard in the UK, with the 10k - half marathon being his prefered distance. After work and on weekends you can find Stu running out on the roads, on the moors, often with The Accelerate Trail Runners or listening to music at home enjoying his vast collection of records!
Debs Smith
Debbie is one of a rare breed who never knows when to ‘give in’. She is a National podium finisher in 24hr MTB racing, a regular winner in adventure racing and has completed the full Ultra Tour de Mont Blanc. Debs brings her experience of running at a high level directly onto the shop floor, helping customers find what works best for them. She combines real-world running knowledge with a practical, hands-on approach—testing kit, understanding what performs, and giving honest, informed advice.
Harry Stevenson
Harry’s first love is football, whether he is playing, watching or coaching, he has a smile on his face. It wasn’t until 2020 Harry first took up running as a way to stay active and healthy. Now you can find him running up and down the Rivelin Valley either before work or joining ATR on an evening.Harry’s days are never the same at Accelerate. From handling admin and running social media to supporting customers on the shop floor, he plays a key role in keeping everything moving. His varied role means he’s involved in all aspects of the store, helping deliver a smooth experience both in-store and online.
Taylor Hill
Taylor is a fully qualified, level 4 soft tissue therapist specialising in sports massage and gait and movement analysis. Taylor’s main aim is to help individuals minimise the risk of injury, recover from injury, optimise movement and strength, and perform at their best through targeted, hands-on treatment and functional assessments.
Taylor is also an accomplished runner, running 14:57 for the 5k and 1:10 over the half marathon distance, and also has a strong background in road cycling to a national level as well. With this experience in sport, Taylor understands the the demands and difficulties that come with training, racing, and staying consistent, therefore he is always a great person to talk to if you are having any troubles with training, recovery or perfromance in general.
Colin Perkins
Collin has a real passion for the technical side of running. Whether it’s analysing kit or talking through performance details, he enjoys helping runners find the right setup. Outside the shop, he’s just as committed—getting stuck into hard training sessions or heading out for long runs in the Peak District. He’s also a photographer, playing a key role in making Accelerate’s social media look its best and capturing the energy of the running community.
Hugh Mackie
Hugh works on the shop floor and plays a key role in helping customers find the right gear, offering friendly, knowledgeable support to runners of all levels. As a lightning-fast track runner, with personal bests of 4:02 for 1500m and 8:34 for 3000m, he brings real performance insight into every conversation, whether it’s choosing shoes, understanding training needs, or getting race-ready.
Iolanthe Cooper
Iolanthe works on the shop floor, helping customers find what they need and making sure everyone feels welcome in store whilst always having a smile on her face. As a runner herself too, she understands what people are looking for and enjoys supporting others on their running journey.
