APC Running Assessment and Treatment Options for Therapists

Who is course aimed at:
Therapists who are assessing and treating runners, or people who use running for training. This course will cover both theory and practical application of assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning of runners.
- Functional anatomy related to running
- Injury mechanisms
- Running injuries
- Biomechanical assessment and application of findings
- Walking and running gait analysis
- What is good running form
- Running specific exercises and running drills
- Treatment options
- Running shoes
- Practical and theorical teaching
- Case studies
These two days will be a mixture of both theory and practical work with real patient assessment.
Lunch will be provided.
Colin Papworth will be leading our Running Mechanics study days.
Colin qualified from the Durham School of Podiatry in 1999. He held the musculoskeletal lead post for Kensington and Chelsea PCT until 2003, when he relocated to Derbyshire.
He currently works as a Sports Podiatrist at Holywell Healthcare in Chesterfield and Accelerate Performance Centre in Sheffield.
He has worked in Ministry of Defense Rehabilitation Units and the High Performance Centre at Loughborough.
He also provides podiatric input to the GB boxing and Para-table tennis teams.
Colin has significant experience on lecturing in Biomechanics and also hosts Running Technique workshops at Accelerate Performance Centre, Sheffield.
