The Speedgoat 5 see a complete overhaul and is almost unrecognisable. The new outsole has even more grip, while the new midsole is lighter and more responsive. Stripped back the new upper holds your foot secure while cutting away any unnecessary overlay to save on weight. These changes make it a very exciting shoe to run in.
Best use: Designed to go long distances on the trails the Speedgoat has comfort at the forefront. The changes to the upper help you to forget you even have them on your feet. The new midsole cushioning keeps the miles ticking by and your legs feeling fresh.
Upper: Hands down the nicest upper Hoka have made. Using a blend of a jacquard mesh and dynamic textiles, Hoka has created an upper that moulds to your foot shape straight away. The reduction in overlays and stitching cuts the weight down and any areas that could cause hot spots. Finally, through the heel, Hoka use their signature achilles flare to reduce the risk of rubbing.
Midsole: Now even lighter but with the same high level of cushioning. Now with a new moulding, we find the shoe to be much nicer to run in and far less restrictive. A shoe you could spend all day in with ease.
Outsole: Not forgetting the outsole Hoka has beefed this area up too. Using 5mm deep Vibram Megagrip Traction lugs. The Speedgoat can handle anything the trail can throw at you, with ease.
Hoka says “A workhorse designed for technical trails, the Speedgoat returns as a new shoe from outsole to laces. This trail beast is updated with Vibram® Megagrip with Traction Lug for upgraded grip and braking power on loose soil. A whole 15 grams lighter, the much grippier fifth Speedgoat edition features many enhancements to improve performance. Weight reduction also comes from fewer overlays – helping us work towards a more sustainable construction.”
