Almost unrecognisable, the Brooks Cascadia 16 has had a major facelift now leaving its tread firmly in the trail running world. A new outsole has improved the grip and traction on the trails, an improved midsole for even greater cushioning and an upper made more durable while still having the wider plusher feeling brooks fit. What more could you ask for!
Best use: Now well a truly a trail shoe to challenge any and all. After receiving some rather major changes the Cascadia 16 is an ideal go-to trail shoe. It’s grippy enough to tackle even the muddiest of trails. Comfy and cushioned to cover any distance and with a fit that makes you forget they are even on your feet.
Upper: Employing a heavier more durable fabric for the upper Brooks has both improved the fit and feel along with the longevity of the shoe. Increased padding around the heel counter gives an extra plush feel as well as increasing the security and lockdown, perfect for steep and technical descents.
Midsole: More cushioning, less weight, winner. Brooks new DNA Loft V2 midsole offers a higher level of cushioning while dropping the weight of the shoe by 20% compared to the previous Cascadia 15! Thanks to this big difference they have added an extra 2mm of midsole in both toe and heel, helping the miles tick on by.
Outsole: If you thought Brooks might have run out of ideas, not quite yet. A completely new outsole has been added with 4mm deep TrailTack lugs, spread across the shoe for increased traction in the wet and dry. Release groves have been added, allowing more flexibility great for on rough, unpredictable terrain.
Brooks says “Take on any trail in the Cascadia 16 – the trail shoe built for runners who want to explore any path, while still feeling protected and stable on ever-changing terrain.”
