Introducing Dynafit

This autumn sees the store launch a brand new clothing range from Dynafit.W's Alpine Warm Jacket >>

As with many European ‘Mountain Brands’ Dynafit begin with ski-ing and came to prominence for many with World Downhill Champion, Franz Klammer. Since then, through various changes of ownership, the brand has become a true ‘Mountain Brand’. Dynafit is still based in Germany, although owned by the Italian brand Salewa.

Here at Accelerate, we have been looking some time for those brands that have a strong environmental policy. From a product that is made from recycled content to that which is extremely well made in that it will last and last.
Dynafit upholds many of the principles we look for. This includes cooperation with the standards set by bluesign® technologies and with the Fair Wear Foundation.
We also look for clothing that can be used all year round. Base layers that become high wicking and quick drying tops for the summer.

Often, we do find that our customers do look at a mountain or outdoor brand and think it’s no good for them as they road run.  The fact is we often find the traditional road running brands are sometimes way behind the curve when it comes to environmental and social awareness through their supply chain.  Yes, things are changing, yet it does feel very slow.

Radical Hooded Jacket >>So for us, Dynafit does sit up there with Scott and Patagonia when it comes to the changes they are making towards helping our planet. Yes, few are as environmentally ‘Active’ as Patagonia, yet it is what they have done that sets the standards others must follow.

As a running brand, we are confident that Dynafit will work just as well on the Kinder Plateau as it will on the streets of Sheffield. From base tees through to hoodies designed to be worn in the cooler conditions of northern hills to alpine mountain tops.

The range is lightweight. It is technical in that it will wick and breathe. Options for layering exist throughout the range with softshell jackets providing additional warmth or greater protection.
We would expect any Dynafit clothing item to give years of good quality service.

We also believe that for the level of quality on offer from Dynafit that the price level is good. Long sleeve tees at £50 are very good when you add in top notch quality and a strong manufacturing ethic.W's Alpine Warm Jacket >>

Our pick of the winter tops available from Dynafit is definitely the Radical Polartec® Hooded Jacket. With a full zip and close fitting hood, we reckon it is versatility personified. High wicking, breathability will be the main benefit of the jacket coupled with additional warmth. Thumb loops, hi-viz reflectors and an elastic hem are all added to the mix.  When we first saw this jacket we guessed a price point of around £175. Surprisingly, it has a retail value of £120. Which yes, is still a lot of money but for a jacket that will give you years of service, we think it is very well priced.
The fit is definitely athletic, and we would recommend you go up a size.
The Radical Jacket is ideal for running days that are dryer and cooler, below 5°C and worn with a base layer. If it is windy, then drop a windproof over the top and away you go. Alternatively, for windy, cold days check out the Alpine Warm Jacket as an alternative to the Radical Hooded Jacket.

Size wise, do check out the description as European sizing is one down from the normal UK. So if you are normally a medium, then go for a large, especially in the men’s ranges.

The Dynafit range is equally available in both women’s and men’s and is available instore and online today. We hope you like the range as much as we do.
