Worldwide Virtual 10K Masters Challenge Championship. The running year started promisingly enough for me with a chilly England qualifying half marathon in Helsby, Chester in January. Being freezing cold I nipped round in 1:43:39 so I could get back to my big coat as soon as my legs would carry me, 1st F65 and qualifier for England International in Fleet in March. Storm Dennis put paid to my February BMAF 10K Championship in Poole. Then, in March, came the Covid-19 lockdown. The England representation half marathon in Fleet was canceled and so, month on month was every other … Continue reading
Say what you like, for me there is nothing much worse than being cold. Wet and cold is so much worse and if you are out in the hills for a long run-out then this is potentially life threatening. A slightly different story on the streets of the city, yet the same wet and cold problem can still be relevant. So what to do? “Layer up! That’s the key”. Finding what works for you is key. Not being afraid to invest in some really decent kit can also make all the difference too. Not just to you yet also to … Continue reading

What a strange world we are living in. People wandering around in face masks on is becoming a more and more common sight. However, running in a mask can be a completely different affair. Steaming up glasses, sweaty faces and struggling to breath are just a few issues you can run into. Well we have started stocking UYN Community sports face masks, greeted with some great feedback. So we asked our friends over Our Running Revolution to try one and see how they got on. The UYN masks are highly breathable, quick drying and have an ergonomic fit to help … Continue reading
The second half of the year always sees a number of new shoes and updates to existing models land on the shelves. As ever some are better than others and as is always the case, the proof is in the running. Last month saw the arrival of the Scott Kinabalu 2.0 RC and a real marmite shoe that has proven to be. A classic case of if the fit works then you will probably love the shoe and certainly the feedback from the Team Accelerate Scott runners proved something most of us now realise, you have gotta try the shoe … Continue reading
OK, we do this every year. We always get around to what we think have been the best products that the store has had on its shelves and that we have had the good fortune to have a play with this last year. So this year we thought, well, ‘We could pass on our thoughts…’ So there you have it, we’ve put our heads together and by the end of the year we will have reviewed our ‘Best in Test 2017’. It will be kit, shoes and gear we have actually tested – and there is a lot off it. … Continue reading
This is the third incarnation of this popular road training shoe. For many running longer distances it has also become a go to racing shoe and at 250 grams (210 for the women’s specific version) you can kinda see why. The original Sayonara came about as the ever popular Precision was discontinued, along with the Elixir. So the two became one – well sort of. A stiffer wave plate and firmer midsole made it more of a new shoe and less of a compromise. The new Sayonara 3, however, is a different proposition to version 1 and 2. The drop, … Continue reading
The Saucony Ride has been around for sometime and has been an increasingly popular road shoe for many. The current incarnation, Ride 6, gets a radical update this Autumn and is perhaps better viewed as a new shoe. Here’s why… For, Saucony, making changes to how they do things is nothing new. They were one of the first companies to develop the 4mm drop shoe with the Kinvara. Perhaps, a more bold move, was to take the whole of their range down to an 8mm drop, sighting the latest research into human movement as the reason. So the campaign of ‘Find … Continue reading
