The Brooks Launch 7 is a lightweight and responsive trainer from Brooks. It uses their BioMoGo DNA midsole for a well cushioned ride while still giving off the racing flat responsive feeling. For team Accelerate member Jason Ward it has been his go to shoe since it was first released in 2010. Since then he has had a least 2 or 3 pairs of every iteration all the way through to the current version. We caught up with him and he shared his reasons behind why it is one of his favorite shoes. Race to the stones 100k – Virtually

Posted on by Accelerate Community

On July 6th 2020 Accelerate community member Simon headed out what can only be described as a monumental challenge both physically and mentally. Keep reading to hear what crazy feat he attempted.   The alarm goes off and I rush to silence it because I don’t want to wake my wife up: not at this hour. I creep through to the bathroom where I find my running kit piled in the corner ready for me and then I make my way downstairs to grab a quick bite to eat. I unlock the front door and in the porch I pull … Continue reading

Together Again… No Flapping Here!

Posted on by Team Accelerate

How many weeks? Fourteen, I think since we last met up for Team Training. So what have we been doing? With racing still looking like it is only on the horizon and possibly not set to return for a while, perhaps next year for larger events, training has not been as difficult as you may think. Yet the Flamingos are very much geared towards improving that which needs improving.  It could be strength, it could be endurance or perhaps lactate tolerance. So during … Continue reading

Running and Music, a perfect harmony by Will Burton

Posted on by Team Accelerate

Will Burton is a member of Team Accelerate-SCOTT, and regularly trains with the watchful eye of coach Stu. However Will is also incredible when it comes to playing the Tuba, so amazing in fact he made it to the finals for Young Muscian of the Year for Brass instruments. Post competition Will has put pen to paper with his thoughts on the correlation between running and music. With music, just like running, I feel it is always important to push yourself. In both disciplines, finding new challenges brings about the greatest improvement.   I was certainly nervous before the competition, … Continue reading

Dig Deep!

Posted on by Team Accelerate

Dig Deep. Yep, that pretty much sums it up. What is doesn’t say though is “yeeeees! I did it!” I’ve not had what you’d call an ideal build up, what with spraining my right ankle in March and then a stress fracture in the left ankle early June. I’m not going to lie, I was a little anxious. July onwards I’d resisted the urge to wrap myself in cotton wool AND bubble wrap and got out on the hills training. Sometimes, the mental battle was every bit as hard as the physical one. Those inner voices of “you’re not fit … Continue reading
