Scott Supertrac 2, Making the fast, faster!

Posted on by Team Accelerate

Accelerate-Scott Team member Harvey has been lucky enough to get his hands on a pair of the new Scott Supertrac 2’s and over the last month has been putting them through their paces. Keep reading to hear what he has to think about this iconic shoe from Scott. When I initially heard Scott were updating the Supertrac i was very sceptical as they have easily been my favourite trail and fell shoe for the whole 2019. Weather it was racing or training, short or long it worked for it all. Thankfully Scott follow along the lines of if it ain’t … Continue reading

Running and Music, a perfect harmony by Will Burton

Posted on by Team Accelerate

Will Burton is a member of Team Accelerate-SCOTT, and regularly trains with the watchful eye of coach Stu. However Will is also incredible when it comes to playing the Tuba, so amazing in fact he made it to the finals for Young Muscian of the Year for Brass instruments. Post competition Will has put pen to paper with his thoughts on the correlation between running and music. With music, just like running, I feel it is always important to push yourself. In both disciplines, finding new challenges brings about the greatest improvement.   I was certainly nervous before the competition, … Continue reading

Dig Deep!

Posted on by Team Accelerate

Dig Deep. Yep, that pretty much sums it up. What is doesn’t say though is “yeeeees! I did it!” I’ve not had what you’d call an ideal build up, what with spraining my right ankle in March and then a stress fracture in the left ankle early June. I’m not going to lie, I was a little anxious. July onwards I’d resisted the urge to wrap myself in cotton wool AND bubble wrap and got out on the hills training. Sometimes, the mental battle was every bit as hard as the physical one. Those inner voices of “you’re not fit … Continue reading

Smashing Hathersage Hurtle through PMA & focused rehab

Posted on by Team Accelerate

Today, Saturday 18 May, was a pretty epic day all in all. Just 7 weeks ago, I sprained my ankle. It looked like an elephant club foot, so attractive! Having to pull out of the four inns ultra was crap. Facing weeks without being able to run wasn’t any better. Those of you who know me well will be well aware I’m determined and ‘strong willed’ (polite way of saying stubborn). I’ve used this as a positive over the last few weeks, with the hathersage hurtle as my immediate goal for rehab and oh my God, have I worked hard … Continue reading

reflecting, learning, achieving….

Posted on by Team Accelerate

Out on my long run yesterday, I found myself reflecting. This time last year it looked like running distances over half marathons runs were no longer an option, but after a month or two of drastically reduced mileage, I was still in pain with my back, and miserable too. Sack this! Yoga, strength work and really steady mileage and endurance build – either that or go mad! It paid off and in the end 2018 was actually pretty ace. I achieved 3rd place female at the LadyBower Trail Marathon in June, entering trail races ‘for fun’ and really enjoying them … Continue reading

(Don’t) know your limits! Go for it!!!

Posted on by Team Accelerate

So, I’m an experienced runner. I’ve been running for about 10 years now, and with 5 marathons under my belt, I should be pretty confident. Should! My running was initially road, hardcore training watching pace per mile and pounding the streets. Then I think I just got bored chasing the seconds and wanted a new challenge…along came trail running. Without doubt the new love of my life where running is about fresh air and freedom. Sunday 28th October (as I write this, yesterday) was a whole new thing for me. I ran the Woodhead Mountain Rescue Grin n Bear It … Continue reading
