Raidlight Responsive 10L vest: First Impression

Posted on by Guest Blogger

There has been a long wait to try this vest.  It’s been on my radar for quite some time. I tested it when it was a prototype back in 2016. I liked it then. And I love it now. Stretch fit.  Adjustable via the micro adjust buckles and with pockets for anything you care to stuff inside them. Mega useful.  Really mega useful. Best of all,  it  S – T – R – E – T – C – H – E – S I’ve run in it a few times.  Between 3 and 20 miles, it never occurs … Continue reading

Best in Test 2017: Clothing

Posted on by Guest Blogger

There’s been plenty of new clothing for 2017. Inov-8 updated many pieces, improving fabrics and the fit, which has produced an enviable range. Patagonia continue to do what they do best, with recycled materials and ethics beyond compare.  Their range throughout 2017 has been practical, colourful and comfortable, with the benefit of knowing that the quality and finish are virtually unsurpassed. Scott revealed a race kit range made of super lightweight fabric and bonded hems, which tied together their entire race collection with a bold black&yellow theme throughout.  From footwear to equipment, they designed everything to look good on … Continue reading

Best in Test 2017 : Trail Shoes

Posted on by Run Stu

There has been plenty of new and updated Trail shoes this last year and thinning the list down to a handful of contenders has been tough enough. Sometimes trail footwear has to be so much more than just a shoe for the rough and ready, it also has to be robust and something that can be taken for short periods ‘off trail’. Some are designed for rocky conditions, others for muddy trails and others for longer runs so comfort becoming an increasingly important factor.  The cross over in-fact could be deemed a mind field and time spent deciding on the … Continue reading

Posted on by Run Stu

When it came to innovation during 2017 there has been little to get excited about. Saucony, have led the way in increasing the distribution of its Everun midsole compound which was launched in 2016. So there has definitely been more options available through their range via a number of updates. So with that in mind who are this years contenders: New Balance 1080V8: We definitely liked this high mileage and ever popular training shoe for its – Stable Running Platform – Great fit across a range of feet – High levels of cushioning – Availability of widths On Running CloudFlow: … Continue reading

Best in Test 2017 : Hybrid Running Shoe

Posted on by Run Stu

It is an often asked for shoe type, something that has enough cushioning and is hardwearing enough for road yet can also be taken off road – often it is those that are new or occasional runners and those looking for an ultra shoe. So it’s quite an ask. It really has come down to two contenders as there has been so little going on in this category, yet both have something different to offer and both have proved themselves to be popular across a spectrum of runners. The contenders: Saucony Koa TR – First reviewed here >> A brand … Continue reading

Best in Test 2017: Equipment – Packs.

Posted on by Guest Blogger

2017- a mixed ‘bag’ where equipment is concerned. Plenty of product carries over from the 2015/16 range, but one or two updates or tweaks have made a big difference. So, not so much about the all new, as the evolution of modern classics.   Here then, are the contenders for ‘Best in Test 2017’. Ultimate Direction Signature Series ‘Anton Krupicka’ Mountain Vest 3.0 (already winner of biggest mouth full). Introduced back in Spring ’16 – due for update sometime in 2018, but for now – far and away the leading vest in Accelerate’s generous range.  The reasons: – 11Litres storage … Continue reading

Best in Test 2017…

Posted on by Run Stu

OK, we do this every year. We always get around to what we think have been the best products that the store has had on its shelves and that we have had the good fortune to have a play with this last year. So this year we thought, well, ‘We could pass on our thoughts…’ So there you have it, we’ve put our heads together and by the end of the year we will have reviewed our ‘Best in Test 2017’.  It will be kit, shoes and gear we have actually tested – and there is a lot off it.  … Continue reading

Lucho Dillitos – a running food review

Posted on by Guest Blogger

Stuart Walker of #TeamAccelerateScott recently took off with some of our newly introduced running nutrition. Here’s what he had to say:   Right then, a food review… This blog is branching out! Well, slightly… the food in question is a new running / cycling snack called a “Lucho Dillitos”. Lucho whatcha? First things first – I’ll save you the Google translation. Lucho Dillitos is Spanish for “I fight little boys” (try it!) This is surely a strong start. Ingredients As you are no doubt aware, energy food has changed over the last few years. Gloopy gels assembled in a … Continue reading

Out of the box review: Mizuno Wave Sonic

Posted on by Guest Blogger

Mizuno Wave Sonic. Awesome.  So far. Structure which feels useful upon push off, while also providing stability and efficency while in mid-stance. Not a single objectionable lump or bump, no seams or pressure points to concern myself about.  It feels as if I’ve been using it for ages and it’s day one! Not too heavy, but definitely built to last, unlike some other racing flats in my collection, which feel as if too much use and they’ll be trashed in no time. The feedback through the shoe is incredible, giving me a very clear impression of the impact upon … Continue reading
