The New Norm.
Yes, it looks certain that we will be able to open the doors on the 15th June.
The last few weeks have been very different for us all.  Yet, the level of support that the store has received has been fantastic, at times overwhelming.  The messages we have received, support with purchasing socks and Goodr sunglasses have quite simply ensured we will be back.

Thank you, to you all. You know who you are.

We have been helping folk with shoes over the phone, using video and photos to help get the selection right. Then often delivering the same day. So many of you have enjoyed the #RunSolo Competitions (still time to enter the #UrbanArt comp) and likewise we have enjoyed the photo’s you have been sending us and posting on social media. It’s been fun.
Some of the feedback has blown us away and it is so very much appreciated.

It was lovely talking to you. I really appreciated your advise and the link. I’ve been for my first run in my lovely new trainers. They were superb. Thank you.

So now we can open.
It is going to have to be different and there is not much we can do about that. We know of some smaller independent shops that are not going to open just yet – especially in the city. It just seems a little rushed with everything at once.
We’re lucky as we have a big airy space and plenty of room for social distancing. We have been planning for this from the moment we went into lock down.
So our #NewNorm is going to be only two people in the shop at once and we ask that you make an appointment to come along to the store just click here

Staff training began last week in earnest. If you haven’t yet experienced try to keep to a social distance for an hour or so you should give it ago. It’s exhausting!  This is one of the reasons for the appointment system and the decision taken on our new open hours.
There are many more restrictions and changes than many will not realise with something like 36 pages of guidelines handed out to retailers. Returns, for example, will have to be quarantined for 72-hours before we can even look at them, let alone pick up. The changing rooms will have to be closed too.

Monday: 10am – 4:30pm
Tuesday: 10am – 4:30pm
Wednesday:   Closed – Front Lawn Home Visits – Details to follow
Thursday: 10am – 4:30pm
Friday: 10am – 4:30pm
Saturday: 10am – 4:30pm
Sunday: Closed – Gone Running!!

Then there is the matter of the treadmill and testing your new running shoes. Unfortunately, the treadmill is out of bounds – unless you were a full face mask, sealed top and bottom and the staff wear full PPE. Running expels air from your lungs at a higher velocity than when you are sitting and chatting, so stands to reason really.  It’s a good job we can go outside with you then. The article ‘Do Your New Running Shoes Fit?’ covers off much of the process of what we can do here
There will also have to be a greater reliance on everyone ensuring the shoe fits correctly and is comfy. We can’t get that close to you to check. You will have to do it and be sure you are happy before you go for that first training run. So when you get home have a read of the article, double check the size and fit, it really is down to you. Sorry, we just don’t have any choice as the government guidelines are pretty clear.

We also appreciate that some folk will struggle to get out to the shops. Key workers and those who are at home with the youngsters. So in addition we can also come to you, well for those in Sheffield and not the Outer Hebrides – sorry. The plan is that we chat with you on the telephone, discuss your running, current footwear and the like. Yes, please, pictures of your feet really help. We can then go from there and arrange to come to your front garden. Yes, we will maintain social distancing and also see you running outside the front of your home. We’ll bring a selection of shoes to try and away we go. So far so good, the response to this has so far been incredible.   Interested, then please call the store on 01142 242 2569 to get the ball rolling.

We are looking forward to being open, welcoming you back. It’s just going to be different, a #NewNorm

See you soon,
Debs, Harvey and Stu
