Biography:
I have been running for 10 years, competing in a mixture of cross country, track, road and fell races. I am particularly enjoying trail and road running at the moment, looking to PR in the 5km and 10km when races recommence.
One of my favourite races last year was the Percy Pud 10k. I came into this race off a strong 2-3 months of training and managed to finish in 36:21, cutting 2 minutes and 37 seconds off the previous year’s time. I also enjoyed competing in the 2019 Round Sheffield Run, finishing 66th, and running the last leg for Team Accelerate in the Tour of Bradwell relay.
Training with Stu and Team Accelerate over the last two and a half years has helped me appreciate the value of good technique, cross-training, drills, recovery weeks and strength training. These are aspects of training that are often ignored, but that I have found to be instrumental to my development as a runner, allowing me to run consistent 40 mile weeks and avoid injury (touch wood!).
Away from running I enjoy playing the tuba, with which I play in Stannington brass band and managed to reach the Brass Final of BBC Young Musician 2020. I am planning on studying History at the University of Manchester in September, looking to continue pursuing running and music alongside my main studies.
