From Racing to in-store 'happenings', First Thursday Breakfast Runs and even Cake Days... you've just gotta have cake! There's plenty going on at Accelerate throughout 2013. Take a look.
1st - 3rd March (Friday to Sunday) - Venue: Showroom. More than 75 of the best adventure, travel and extreme sports films hand-picked from around the world. Screened over one weekend at the art deco Showroom Cinemain Sheffield, voted the region’s best cultural venue. Featuring 'Getting to the start line'. Accelerate's Running Expert Night. See you there!
Friday 1st March - Venue: Travellers Rest. 7pm arrival for 7.30pm start. With special guest Salomon (as we launch our S LAB Centre in store, see below), we're providing runners with Salomon test shoes to play in. PLUS a few Petzl 'Nao' head torches to try as well. 4-5 miles of trail, resulting in a sit down inside the Travellers Rest for a well earned drink. Come and join us to discover what our Salomon range will do for you.
It's our party - and we'll launch Salomon if we want to! 2nd March - Venue: Store. 10am - 5pm. We launch our Salomon S LAB Running Centre on Saturday the 2nd of March. A Salomon tech rep will be in store all day to explain what Salomon have developed, how it works and why, but don't just take his word for it - try it! The new S LAB range developed in collaboration with their sponsored athletes is in a league of its own.
There will be a chance for all who visit to enter a prize draw, and maybe take away some free goodies in our give away. Colin (Podiatrist) and Ellie (Physio) from Holywell are available all day (10am-5pm) for free taster sessions with running pressure analysis and good running form advice.
On top of all this we celebrate our 4th year supporting runners, not only in Sheffield but from all over the UK. That means CAKE. Find us.
Sunday 3rd March - Venue: Showroom. Accelerate will be at the Showroom Cinema for the 2013 Sheffield Adventure Film Festival (ShAFF) - day 3 (Sunday) from 11am to 11pm with a retail stand full of the new Salomon/S LAB equipment and footwear. While taking in the festival, particularly the Run Films, what better time/place to pick up a new pair of shoes and get involved? Join us for a 4-5 mile run on local trails/paths and meet like-minded folk of all abilities. Enjoy post run croissants with a hot cup of tea/coffee. Fruit juice and other treats available. Gritstone Series 2013: Wolfs Pit Fell Race Sunday 17th March - Venue: High Peak Garden Centre. 11am - (race notes here). The first fixture in 2013's Gritstone Series (a collection of local races in the Dark Peak, sponsored by Accelerate and Inov-8). Come and test your skills on open ground, completing whichever race you prefer, or 5 races from the 8 available, in order to earn a final place in the series' results.

Sunday 14th April - Venue: Rivelin Valley Cafe.
9.45am meet,10am start. We invite you to join us on the first of several slightly longer runs, that will take in some of the incredible locations just outside of Sheffield. This time it's 11miles. Rivelin Valley Cafe to Stanage Edge, via Wyming Brook, heading past High Neb and down toward the Ladybower Inn. Post run drinks and a bus back to the Cafe. contact us.
Friday 19th April - Venue: Wheata Woods car park.
7pm - for 7.15pm start. Beginning in daylight for a change, we'll take a 5 mile trail route through the Wheata/Wharncliffe Woods. Then back via The Old Harrow Pub for 'refreshments'. All are welcome, as long as you've a head torch, warm clothes, spare layers/batteries and appropriate trail shoes (grip). Any questions - contact us.

Sheffield Half Marathon Dress Rehearsal. Join us for a 4-5mile recce of the start/finish section of the race (familiarise yourself). We'll answer questions and swap tips for the big day. 7.30pm - 9.30pm. Ultra runner profiles, Films, Stuart Walker in person - describing his 1100mile Alps Run. Beginner or veteran, gathering info or sharing your experience - we welcome you to attend a demonstration of peparation to recovery and everything in-between.
