Scott Supertrac 2, Making the fast, faster!

Posted on by Team Accelerate

Accelerate-Scott Team member Harvey has been lucky enough to get his hands on a pair of the new Scott Supertrac 2’s and over the last month has been putting them through their paces. Keep reading to hear what he has to think about this iconic shoe from Scott. When I initially heard Scott were updating the Supertrac i was very sceptical as they have easily been my favourite trail and fell shoe for the whole 2019. Weather it was racing or training, short or long it worked for it all. Thankfully Scott follow along the lines of if it ain’t … Continue reading

Opening!!

Posted on by Accelerate Running Store

The New Norm. Yes, it looks certain that we will be able to open the doors on the 15th June. The last few weeks have been very different for us all.  Yet, the level of support that the store has received has been fantastic, at times overwhelming.  The messages we have received, support with purchasing socks and Goodr sunglasses have quite simply ensured we will be back. Thank you, to you all. You know who you are. We have been helping folk with shoes over the phone, using video and photos to help get the selection right. Then often delivering … Continue reading

Running and Music, a perfect harmony by Will Burton

Posted on by Team Accelerate

Will Burton is a member of Team Accelerate-SCOTT, and regularly trains with the watchful eye of coach Stu. However Will is also incredible when it comes to playing the Tuba, so amazing in fact he made it to the finals for Young Muscian of the Year for Brass instruments. Post competition Will has put pen to paper with his thoughts on the correlation between running and music. With music, just like running, I feel it is always important to push yourself. In both disciplines, finding new challenges brings about the greatest improvement.   I was certainly nervous before the competition, … Continue reading

Movement Matters, A reason to run

Posted on by Accelerate Community

Thanks to Laura Hogg for this amazing buzz post, she is a sports therapist for the Accelerate Performance Centre and a keen runner and cyclist. Hear some of her thoughts on the benafits of regular movement. Like most at the moment, I am incredibly grateful that outdoor exercise is considered essential activity. It’s hard to imagine life without it. But even while we have this luxury, movement matters the rest of the time for the health of our mind, joints, muscles and cells. Personally, I’m hoping not to slip into sedentary habits whilst working and living from home – even … Continue reading

Thanks Chumbawumba

Posted on by Team Accelerate

It’s been over a week now since I hurtled to the trail in the woods courtesy of those blooming tree roots, resulting in one very badly sprained ankle. Thursday 21st March will be etched in my mind for a while yet. Thursday was a bit of blur: a combination of shock, adrenaline and codeine. Trying to work out how I get coffee from the kitchen to sofa while on crutches is not great on codeine brain. Friday was reality hitting. Ouch. Ankle blooming hurt, swolen like an elephant’s foot and the reality dawning of being unable to run the ultra … Continue reading

Running the French Alps

Posted on by Run Stu

People will travel the World to discover the best Mountain Trails and a number of areas have become ‘musts’ to visit. None more so than Chamonix in the heart of the French Alps, more so if you are based within Europe. Chamonix, has always been well known as a ski destination and as Trail and Mountain Running developed, so the Ultra Tour du Mont Blanc was instigated and is now considered to be one of the top long distance events in the World.  As a result during the key racing period accommodation in the area can be tougher to find … Continue reading

Going long at Ladybower

Posted on by Team Accelerate

Despite running for almost 15 years, it’s been over a decade since my last official marathon. Indeed, the 2018 Ladybower Trail Marathon was my first ever off-road attempt at this distance. A venture into the unknown. To attempt this at Ladybower reservoir was particularly special for me as I spent so much of my early years as an athlete running and cycling around its shores. It was made extra special by the beautiful summer weather we got to enjoy on race day. With not a breath of wind in the air, and the sun beating down, it was more akin … Continue reading

Running Hot

Posted on by Run Stu

The weather forecast says ‘Hot, Hot, Hot’. Today is race day and over the last couple of weeks the weather has been warm, yet in an effort to be ‘sensible’ and to be able to run at your usual training speeds you’ve simply avoided the heat and missed training.  Is this the right thing to have done? Often, runners fear the heat and just avoid training at all and then rock up to their target race, lacking any sort of ‘heat training’ and therefore acclimatisation. So what can we do? How We Keep Cool Our bodies are constantly adapting to … Continue reading

Fundamentally Speaking

Posted on by Run Stu

In just about every sport I can think of, coaching is part of the improvement process for the participant, yet not so often in running. I suspect because it is so much more of an individual sport and everyone can run, can’t they? Well, therein lies the question, there is running… And there is running.  And I am not talking about who is the faster. There does appear to be one very common thread throughout what people talk about, with regard to Running Objectives. This occurs across the spectrum of running participation, regardless of time spent running on a … Continue reading

When it came to innovation during 2017 there has been little to get excited about. Saucony, have led the way in increasing the distribution of its Everun midsole compound which was launched in 2016.
