Scott Supertrac 2, Making the fast, faster!

Posted on by Team Accelerate

Accelerate-Scott Team member Harvey has been lucky enough to get his hands on a pair of the new Scott Supertrac 2’s and over the last month has been putting them through their paces. Keep reading to hear what he has to think about this iconic shoe from Scott. When I initially heard Scott were updating the Supertrac i was very sceptical as they have easily been my favourite trail and fell shoe for the whole 2019. Weather it was racing or training, short or long it worked for it all. Thankfully Scott follow along the lines of if it ain’t … Continue reading

Screw this!

Posted on by Guest Blogger

Saucony have taken a bold step and released trail shoes which openly invite the user to customise them… By drilling holes in them, or screwing screws into the underside. And before you dismiss the idea, think about the possibilities. We all appreciate a good trail shoe.  Comfort over an outright fell shoe, but more responsive and protective than the softer road alternatives.  The studs you find on most trail shoes offer traction and if made of the correct rubber, a lot of grip as well.  But only to a point.  No one shoe will work on all surfaces.  In … Continue reading

Polar Ignite Review – completely plagiarised by Houghboy

Posted on by Guest Blogger

In an unprecedented move, I’ve literally ripped off another review here, because I couldn’t say it any better. So courtesy of Mr. Duncan Bell via T3.com, here is a review of the all new Polar Ignite, a watch which has me excited, since it looks great, features colour touch screen and state of the art wrist based heart rate, but most importantly, might actually last for the time it takes me to complete an ultra distance event!  Oh and the price is what you’d expect from something ‘entry level’, which I assure you, this ain’t. If, like me, you fall … Continue reading

Raidlight Responsive 10L vest: First Impression

Posted on by Guest Blogger

There has been a long wait to try this vest.  It’s been on my radar for quite some time. I tested it when it was a prototype back in 2016. I liked it then. And I love it now. Stretch fit.  Adjustable via the micro adjust buckles and with pockets for anything you care to stuff inside them. Mega useful.  Really mega useful. Best of all,  it  S – T – R – E – T – C – H – E – S I’ve run in it a few times.  Between 3 and 20 miles, it never occurs … Continue reading

New Beginnings…

Posted on by Guest Blogger

Blog. First one in ages. Yonks, you might say. But here it is.  New style.  Short blogs. I’ve been getting fat.  Lazy.  Unfit. I just accepted an invitation to join a friend and his mate on next year’s High Peak Marathon, so, y’know….. TRAINING! Gotta get busy with at least 30 minutes a day, 6 days per week.  Gentle at first for sure.  But it’s gonna have to get serious in time, because come March 2018 – 40-odd miles of up/down with thick filth and bog, covered in fog (potentially) and a dash of sideways rain/snow.  At night. So … Continue reading

Running as Community

Posted on by Team Accelerate

Back in 2009 I started a running club, the Porter Valley Plodders. The ‘why’ is a long story for another time. Up until then I had been a fairly solitary soul when it came to training and racing, preferring my own company on the fells week in week out. However the evolution of the PVPs altered my perception on such things, and introduced to me the concept of the running community. We had a disparate collection of individuals from every single walk of life. Occupations, backgrounds, ethnicities, abilities, lifestyles, aspirations; a mixed bag apart from one common denominator. We all … Continue reading

‘On’ One…

Posted on by Run Stu

They have to be the strangest looking running shoe ever! OK so the brand ‘On’ Running have been around for a while now yet if you are not so familiar with them they do look a little odd. Almost as if someone has stuck bits of old hosepipe to their undersides.  Well, it’s funny I should say that… That is about how things started. The principal is very straightforward and is trying to solve an age old problem of energy wastage as a result of cushioning. All the claims of ‘push back’ or ‘energy return’ from the cushioning really does … Continue reading

Out of the Box: MIzuno Wave Sayonara 3

Posted on by Run Stu

This is the third incarnation of this popular road training shoe. For many running longer distances it has also become a go to racing shoe and at 250 grams (210 for the women’s specific version) you can kinda see why. The original Sayonara came about as the ever popular Precision was discontinued, along with the Elixir. So the two became one – well sort of.  A stiffer wave plate and firmer midsole made it more of a new shoe and less of a compromise. The new Sayonara 3, however, is a different proposition to version 1 and 2.  The drop, … Continue reading
