Introducing the ‘GRITTY SERIES’…
For me one of the most exciting developments this year is the Gritty Series. Wolfs Pit, Caslteton, Edale and Great Hucklow all have junior races. I am race organiser for Edale Fell Race, and last year we ran the junior race for the first time. There were a few comments on the toughness of the course, it was a rather steep hill! Despite my worries of organising the junior race it was fantastic. The young runners finished as the adults got ready for their race and the winner started the adults race. There was a great atmosphere. Young runners need to complete 3 out of the 4 races to qualify for the series. Have a look on the website http://www.gritstoneseries.co.uk/juniors to find the age limits and details on all the race, it does vary. We hope to see lots of budding young fell runners at the races.
As the series is now established and has great support from racers, organisers and marshals we thought it would be good to have an end of series celebration and prize giving. The thought at the moment is a pie and pea evening in mid Oct open to all. Keep you eye on our Facebook page and the Gritstone website on how to book.
With Wolf’s Pit less than 2 weeks away, it is time to register for the series, so go to gritstoneseries.co.uk where you will find all the information on the Gritstone and Gritty Series.
Looking forward to seeing you all at Wolf’s Pit. I don’t know if I will be running, as will have to see how the legs are after 42-miles of the High Peak Marathon this Friday!
